Mosaic in Pontiac

Artists from the Pontiac Community Art Center enjoyed working with individuals served at five Mosaic houses in Pontiac and Dwight during the week of June 12.

Each student painted an original work of art inspired by one of four sample paintings supplied by lead artist Kathy Zehr and Teresa Beard-Lowell.

Zehr and Beard-Lowell led the projects with the help from volunteers: Connie Kostelc, Vickie Fitzgerald, Juli Fraher, Patty Mackinson, Brenda Thompson, Pam Beeson, Sue Drummet, and Nancy Flessner.

“Everyone seemed to have a good time”, said Zehr. “Each painting had a surprise reveal of the painter’s personal initials, which came after they were finished painting. I think they really liked that!”

The Greater Livingston County Arts Council provided half of the funding for this project and wrote a grant for the rest, Zehr continued. “Without help like this, along with that of our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to offer this type of community service.”

Artwork created will be featured in the window of the Pontiac Community Art Center, 103 W. Madison Street in Pontiac during the last two weeks  in July.
