The Mosaic Collaborative

Internships

Undergraduate and graduate college students with an interest in the field of disabilities have opportunities to expand their knowledge and gain first-hand experience through internship placements. There are two types of internships offered through the Mosaic Collaborative: Domestic and International.

Domestic Internships
A domestic internship is an opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student to expand their knowledge and gain experience in a variety of areas, including disability issues research, public policy activities, coordination of volunteers and conferences/symposia, community organizing and grassroots efforts, development of white papers and other publications, and involvement with state and national trade association activities.

The internship placement is located at our national office in Omaha, with opportunities to work with various state, national, and international partners. Internships are typically a minimum of one college semester. The Mosaic Collaborative is committed to providing the highest quality internship experience for students and is open to working with educational institutions and students to design an internship that meets the goals of all parties involved.

International Internships
Through our current international efforts and partnerships, internship opportunities are available to graduate level students who have an interest in living and working abroad for one semester in Tanzania or Romania.

Romania:
Located in the outskirts of Bucharest and other outlying areas of Romania, interns work with Motivation Romania on employment opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities, as well as assisting staff in the residential, vocational, rehabilitative and respite care for children with disabilities.

Tanzania:
Located in Moshi, Tanzania, international interns work with the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania on improving the lives of children with disabilities and their families through the "Building a Caring Community" project. Interns also have the opportunity to be involved in activities that support the empowerment and employment of women from divergent groups, and assist staff in the neighborhood support centers where mothers bring their children with and without disabilities for socialization, educational and therapeutic activities.
