Mosaic in Northern Iowa

Discover the Possibilities (DtP) is an introduction luncheon to Mosaic’s mission, work and passion for providing a life of possibilities for people with intellectual disabilities. The luncheon is free, lasts one hour, and no one is asked to donate. It is designed to educate and inspire people to want to learn more, become involved, and share our story with others in the community. It is less important that our guests leave with all the facts about our work than that they leave feeling inspired by our mission.

Employees at Mosaic all have an opportunity to give back to the people we serve through Mosaic’s Employee Campaign. We value the contributions of our employees and are proud to say that as an organization, our employees have given more than $3 million since the campaign began in 2003. Employees can donate to the campaign through payroll deduction.

Mosaic envisions a world where people with intellectual disabilities thrive as valued participants in their communities. To help make this happen, a group of volunteers called Mosaic Allied Voices promotes public awareness of disability issues and advocates for equality and public policy that serves people with intellectual disabilities.

To be a MAV volunteer, all you need is an email address!

Got lemons? Make lemonade.

That was the attitude of Mosaic staff in Forest City, Iowa, when they learned that funding would be cut in half for the pre-vocational services offered through a Mosaic-run thrift store called Krysmart. It was an opportunity to re-think services and change direction.

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst visited Mosaic’s Waukon office Tuesday, April 11 as part of her 99-county tour. Ernst met with the leadership staff, support staff, and a person supported by Mosaic to discuss the organization’s positive impact, advocacy, current needs, and concerns relating to legislation.

When Jeffery moved back to his small hometown in Texas, he was without transportation services. It’s hard to complete even small tasks like buying basic necessities and paying bills when you don’t have a ride! Jeffery’s case manager, Tammika, worked for many months to help Jeffery find the right person to provide services for him. That’s something Jeffery says he likes about Mosaic.

“Everyone really listens and spends time to understand the situation,” he said. “They don’t just try to push something on you.”

Carolyn and Albert are a couple served by Mosaic in Southeast Texas and have been married for 23 years. They enjoy living in a home they call their own. It took a long time for them to be able to own a home after renting for many years. It was a proud moment when they finally saved up enough and got the mortgage approved to get their own place 10 years ago. They enjoy having plenty of room in their house, storage space, being able to have and care for their three dogs, and having a yard where they can grow vegetables and flowers.

My name is Jenniffer LeDoux, and I am delighted to serve as the Executive Director for Mosaic in Southeast Texas, a role I assumed in January 2017. I came to Mosaic with more than 20 years of experience working with babies, children, youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mosaic’s faith heritage, mission, vision and core values were all key factors in my decision to join this team. I am grateful for the employees I work alongside in support of the individuals we serve.
