Mosaic in Central Iowa

Mosaic’s self-advocacy group, Helping Advocate for People with Intellectual Disabilities (HAPI), attended ID Action’s Day on the Hill at the Iowa State Capitol Wednesday, April 5. Twelve self-advocates plus Mosaic support staff attended an advocacy training put on by ID Action in the morning.

Later, they were able to go on the Senate floor thanks to Senator Brad Zaun, a longtime Mosaic advocate. Sen. Zaun and Rep. John Forbes met with the group, allowed individual photos with everyone in the group, and thanked staff for the important work they do every day for Mosaic.

“HAPI had a great time going to the Capitol, meeting with legislators, and voicing our concerns about issues that face people with disabilities and our staff,” said Monnie Hall, HAPI Chairman.

Mosaic is very thankful for everyone who has partnered with us in advocacy, not just during this legislative session, but in big and little ways every day to make sure the voices of those we serve are heard. To Learn more please visit mosaicalliedvoices.org.
